Mathturion
Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2026
Welcome to Mathturion. By creating an account, purchasing a membership, or using the site, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use Mathturion.
Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your email address current so that we can contact you regarding your account and purchases.
Accounts are for individual use and may not be shared. Only one device may be signed in to an account at a time. When you sign in on a new device, any other active session associated with your account will be automatically signed out. For security purposes, you may also be signed out after a period of inactivity.
Memberships & payments
Some puzzles and features require a paid membership. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Mathturion does not store your full card number. Prices are displayed before you confirm a purchase and are charged in the currency shown.
Memberships are available as recurring subscriptions (monthly or annual) or as one-time prepaid periods. Recurring subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel auto-renewal at any time through your account settings, and your access will continue until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Account lifecycle
When a paid membership lapses, access to member-only content reverts to the free tier. After an extended period of inactivity, a lapsed account may be frozen and later deleted. You will receive an email notice before this occurs.
You may delete your account at any time through your account settings.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the site. You must not attempt to disrupt or overload the service, gain unauthorized access to the service or its data, or copy, scrape, or redistribute puzzle content for commercial purposes. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms and, where appropriate, take legal action to protect our rights, content, users, and services.
Content & intellectual property
Puzzles, artwork, text, and the Mathturion name and logo are the property of Mathturion and are provided for your personal, non-commercial use and enjoyment. You may not copy, redistribute, or republish puzzle content.
To help protect this content, puzzle pages include a per-user watermark. As described in Puzzle watermarking in the Privacy Policy, this watermark allows a shared capture to be traced back to the account from which it originated.
Social media & official channels
Mathturion’s official announcements are published in The Mathturion Chronicle on this site. That is currently our only official channel — if another is ever added, these Terms will name it. We may reserve our name on social media platforms without publishing through them, so an account bearing our name is not necessarily a channel we use.
We are not responsible for information, statements, representations, or content published or distributed through unofficial accounts, third-party websites, forums, or messaging platforms we have not expressly authorized, and we do not endorse or take responsibility for content posted by third parties, including content that presents itself as representing or being affiliated with Mathturion.
Nothing posted on a social media channel, whether ours or anyone else’s, changes these Terms or the policies published on this site. Where they disagree, the published policies govern.
Disclaimers & changes
The site is provided “as is” and may be changed, suspended, or unavailable from time to time. We may update these terms periodically. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, announced in The Mathturion Chronicle.
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This policy explains what information Mathturion collects, why we collect it, and how we use, store, and protect it. It also covers technical data collected to help secure our website and protect customer accounts.
What we collect
Account information — we collect your user ID, display name, and email address, along with a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in readable form.
Payment information — purchases are processed by Stripe. We receive and store only limited billing information, such as your card brand, the last four digits of your card number, expiration date, and subscription status. This information allows us to manage and display your membership and renewals. Your full card number is handled by Stripe and is not stored by Mathturion.
Puzzle progress — for signed-in members, we record which puzzles you have visited, solved, and solved optimally so that we can track and display your progress.
Technical data — the cookies and local storage we set ourselves are functional only, and are needed for sign-in, security, and preferences; see Cookies we set. We also keep short-lived security records, such as sign-in attempts, to protect accounts from abuse. On pages that display advertising, Google may set cookies of its own, as described in Cookies & Advertising.
How we use your information
We use your information to manage your account, provide access to the puzzles and membership you have purchased, process payments, maintain the security of our service, and communicate with you about your account, including verification, security, renewals, and the lifecycle notices described in our Terms of Service.
We do not share your personal information with third parties except where necessary to operate Mathturion. This includes service providers such as our payment processor, Stripe; our email provider; and, on pages that display advertising, Google and its advertising partners, as described in Cookies & Advertising. We may also disclose your information when required by law.
We do not sell your personal information for monetary compensation. However, some U.S. state privacy laws define “selling” or “sharing” broadly and may include the use of certain advertising identifiers described in Cookies & Advertising. You can opt out of such uses through the Your Privacy Choices link, which appears in the footer of pages that display advertising.
Puzzle watermarking
To deter unauthorized copying and help identify the source of shared puzzle content, puzzle pages display a subtle watermark across the play area. When you are signed in, the watermark includes your user ID. When you are signed out, it displays only the Mathturion brand.
The watermark is designed to remain unobtrusive during normal use while remaining identifiable in screenshots or photographs. This may allow content shared outside Mathturion to be associated with the account from which it was captured. We use watermarking solely for the purpose of protecting our content and identifying unauthorized distribution.
Account and transactional emails (verification, password resets, payment and renewal notices) are part of the service. We send these from noreply@mathturion.com, an unattended mailbox that is not monitored — please do not reply to those messages, as replies are not received or read.
Data retention & your choices
We retain your account information for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information, except for limited records that we may be required to retain for tax, payment, legal, or regulatory purposes.
You can edit your profile, update your email address, enable two-step verification, or delete your account at any time through your account settings.
Children
Mathturion is intended for a general audience. If a child uses Mathturion, their account should be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: August 2026
All purchases are non-refundable
Memberships and prepaid periods provide immediate access to digital content. Because access begins immediately, all purchases are final and non-refundable, including any unused portion of a subscription period or any unused prepaid months.
EU/EEA right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you would normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract. For digital content that begins immediately, that right is lost once performance starts with your prior express consent and your acknowledgement that the right is thereby lost. At checkout you provide that consent and acknowledgement, so the 14-day withdrawal right no longer applies and the purchase is non-refundable (Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(m)).
Cancelling auto-renewal
You can cancel the auto-renewal of your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation stops future charges but does not provide a refund for the current or any previous subscription periods. Your membership will remain active until the end of the period you have already paid for, after which it will not renew.
Deleting your account
Separately from cancelling auto-renewal, you can delete your account at any time through your account settings in one of two ways:
- Scheduled deletion: your account remains active, and you retain access until the end of the period you have already paid for. After a short grace period, your account will be closed and permanently deleted. You can cancel the scheduled deletion at any time before it is finalised and keep your account.
- Immediate deletion: your account and personal data are deleted immediately.
Deleting your account using either method does not entitle you to a refund for any paid or unused subscription period, in accordance with the no-refund policy above.
Billing problems
You can review and manage your subscription, payment method, and invoices at any time from your account settings. If you believe you were charged in error, nothing in this policy limits the statutory rights you may have under applicable law that cannot be waived.
